North Carolina Association of Teen Democrats Executive Board Members for 2009-2010

President

Peter Alfredson of Wake County

Peter Alfredson was elected as President of the North Carolina Association of Teen Democrats in 2009 without opposition. Peter brings to this position a strong set of accomplishments and experiences. Peter first became involved in Teen Democrats in the Spring of 2008, when he attended the 2008 YDNC State Convention. Within a week, Peter was appointed by President Hailey Best to the position of At-Large Representative on the NCATD Executive Board. He held that position until he became Vice President of Fundraising in October of 2008. During this time, Peter was working to organize a club at his school, Enloe High School in Raleigh. Using a unique combination of technology and personal outreach, Peter was able to organize the Enloe Teen Democrats in only two months. At their first meeting, held during exam week, more than 20 people showed up. The picture of the Enloe Teen Democrats assembled at that meeting is still displayed on the North Carolina Democratic Party website. At the same meeting, Peter was chosen by his peers to lead the Enloe Teen Democrats as President for the next year. Under his leadership, the Enloe Teen Democrats quickly became the largest chapter in the state. Peter's experiences as founder and President of this club give him a unique perspective on the challenges and successes that Teen Democrats face all over the state as they build new chapters. Peter takes those accomplishments to heart in his role as NCATD President. Peter is committed to making sure that local chapter leaders have the resources and support they need in order to effectively accomplish their goals. He will also work to reform the chartering process and make it easier for clubs to connect with the state organization. Peter is committed to being open and accessible and will never forget who he works for. Peter lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he is a rising senior at Enloe High School.
